76XK120007 Jaguar XK120 Pastel Blue

76XK120007 Jaguar XK120 Pastel Blue

The Jaguar XK120 (1948–1954) was a groundbreaking post-war sports car. It featured a 3.4-litre inline-6 engine, 160-220 horsepower and was produced as a Roadster, Fixed-Head Coupé, and Drophead Coupé . It was initially designed as a limited-run test bed for Jaguar’s new 3.4-litre XK twin-cam engine. Launched at the 1948 London Motor Show, its 120 mph (193 km/h) top speed and stunning design made it the fastest production car of its time, with interest and demand forcing Jaguar into full-scale production.

Here at Oxford we are pleased to release this summery pastel blue livery on our 1:76 scale Jaguar XK120, which is given a further refined look with a deep steel blue interior and silver exterior trim. It is registered EBN 746. The Jaguar badge with the cat centred within the Jaguar Cars Ltd Coventry lettering is highlighted in silver on the bonnet.

The XK120 was designed by Jaguar’s Chief Engineer William Heynes and produced at Jaguar’s Coventry plant under Chairman William Lyons. Between 1949 and 1954 when production ceased, just over 12,000 XK120s were made.  The ‘120’ in the name referred to the aluminium car’s top speed - and even faster without the windscreen!  No surprise that the XK120 went on to become a very successful race and rally car as well  as being an absolute sensation and of great appeal to the high end motorists of the early 1950s.
